Carissa Fisher, a former preschool teacher, is donating part of her liver to her former student, 5-year-old Ezra Toczek, who has end-stage liver disease. Fisher immediately offered to help when she saw Ezra's need for a liver donor matching her blood type.
Ezra Toczek, who was born with liver damage and faced multiple health challenges including chronic liver disease, was adopted by Karen Toczek and her husband after being in foster care. His birth parents were unable to meet his medical needs, leading to the adoption by Karen, a registered nurse.
