Power blackout hits all of Puerto Rico as residents prepare for Easter weekend
Briefly

All of Puerto Rico suffered a total power blackout affecting 1.4 million customers while preparing for the Easter weekend. Initial restoration efforts brought power back to nearly 100,000 clients, but many remain without water. Tourism officials assured visitors that businesses were functioning on generators despite the outages. Anger grew among residents, calling for governmental accountability regarding the repeated power failures, as officials suggested a timeframe of up to 72 hours to restore electricity to the majority of clients.
"It is unacceptable that we have a failure of this magnitude in the transmission of the electrical system," said Gov. Jenniffer Gonzalez.
"This is a total disaster," said Orlando Huertas, 68, as he sipped a drink with a friend at a streetside bar.
