Phoenix Marks 100 Straight Days of 100-Degree Temperatures
Briefly

The Weather Service reported that Phoenix has experienced its longest streak on record of 100 consecutive days with temperatures 100°F or higher, surpassing the previous record of 76 days in 1993.
Meteorologist Gabriel Lojero noted that the city is facing a drier-than-normal monsoon season, which typically brings clouds and rain to help moderate summer temperatures.
This summer has been unprecedentedly hot for Phoenix, with the meteorological average for June, July, and August hitting 98.9°F—almost two degrees above last year's record of 97°F.
Despite the seemingly unrelenting heat, more than 30 million people across the Southwest, especially in Arizona and Southern California, are currently under excessive heat warnings, highlighting the severe risks associated with intense heat.
