He helped reform schools in Qatar, worked on educational equity issues in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina and expanded translation services for students in Oakland."

Oakland police requested public help identifying two male suspects in the Oct. 1, 2021 home-invasion robbery that killed education advocate Dirk Tillotson. The robbery occurred in the 2600 block of Monticello Avenue. Police released photos and descriptions: one suspect 5 feet 9 inches to 6 feet tall with a thin build last seen in a gray or light-colored hooded sweatshirt, gray or light-colored pants and light-colored shoes; the other 5 feet 9 inches to 6 feet tall with a medium build last seen in a gray or light-colored hooded sweatshirt, black or dark-colored pants with stripes and white shoes with black trim.
