Recent statements by Pulte reveal that several North Korean and Chinese nationals have been working at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, where they allegedly posed as U.S. citizens or contractors. Pulte's scrutiny of the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) has led to referrals to the Department of Justice (DOJ) regarding their conduct. This comes amid staffing cuts related to unethical activities. The U.S.'s tense relationship with these countries alongside ongoing trade arbitration has raised alarms about foreign national oversight in critical U.S. financial institutions.
We've heard, for instance, recently criminally referred some North Koreans and Chinese for working inside of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, Pulte said in the interview.
I think we've referred five or six different people to the DOJ, just in terms of North Koreans and Chinese working in the companies, he said.
