
"A family in Markle, Indiana, is grieving the tragic death of a 7-day-old infant who died after being attacked by the family dog. Huntington Central Dispatch received a 911 call on Sept. 4 reporting that a child had been bitten in his home by a dog, the Huntington County Sheriff's Office said in a press release. Law enforcement and EMS rushed to the scene where they found the newborn, whose name was Jason A. Weaver, in critical condition and in need of life-saving treatment."
"The child was transported to a hospital in Fort Wayne, where he was pronounced dead. An autopsy conducted at the Northeast Indiana Forensic Center determined the child died as a result of multiple blunt force traumatic injuries and the manner of death was accidental. The dog that attacked the child was a 5-year-old husky/pit bull mix, Philip S. Zahm, the coroner at the Huntington County Coroner's Office, told TODAY.com in an email."
