Yeison Cortes Vasquez, a pastor at The Gathering Place Church in Elizabeth, New Jersey, was detained by ICE on March 20 while working. He overstayed his tourist visa, which expired in July 2016. After his release on bond with a GPS monitor, he will undergo further removal proceedings. The National Latino Evangelical Coalition stated that he has no criminal record and was actively ministering to other detainees while in custody. Cortes Vasquez is married with three daughters.
