'Moss Appreciation Week': a lot of celebration for a very little plant
Briefly

Moss Appreciation Week, held annually at Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon, celebrates the often overlooked beauty of moss with a variety of fun and educational events. Initiated several years ago by a student inspired by a summer experience at Portland State University's Herbarium, the week features activities such as moss walks, crafting, and even a gastropod derby. This festival, now in its seventh year, encourages students to engage with the diverse forms of moss and recognize their ecological importance.
"Moss is something that's underappreciated, so we're taking some time to appreciate the moss that makes our campus beautiful."
