Minnesota preemptively sues Trump administration over trans athlete ban
Briefly

The state of Minnesota has filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration in an effort to uphold policies that allow transgender students to compete in girls’ sports. Attorney General Keith Ellison claims that the administration's executive orders, which recognize only two sexes and prohibit transgender women from competing, are unconstitutional discrimination. This lawsuit, part of a broader conflict involving several states, aims to protect federal funding amid threats from federal officials who argue these policies contravene Title IX. Ellison has stated that Minnesota will not succumb to federal pressure on this issue.
"I am not going to sit around waiting for the Trump administration to sue Minnesota," Ellison said during a news conference Tuesday, adding that the state "will not participate in this shameful bullying."
"Why would a grown man sue the Trump Administration to allow other biological males to participate in women's sports? This is creepy and anti-woman," said White House spokesperson Harrison Fields.
