Manufacturers and feds work to stabilize supply of IV fluids for hospitals

Hurricane Helene has exacerbated the existing shortages of intravenous fluids, with one of the largest suppliers, Baxter, shutting down its Marion, N.C. plant.
The Food and Drug Administration has authorized 19 IV products for temporary importation, while Baxter is taking steps to limit purchases and increase manufacturing.
