Man Charged in Theft of Judy Garland's Ruby Slippers Dies

Jerry Hal Saliterman, one of the two individuals implicated in the 2005 theft of Judy Garland's iconic ruby slippers, has passed away at the age of 77 before his case could be adjudicated in federal court. Due to serious health problems, including Parkinson's disease, he was unable to appear in court prior to his death. The slippers were stolen from a museum in Minnesota and were recovered by the FBI in 2018. Another accomplice, Terry Martin, pleaded guilty to the theft in 2023.
