Sean McKinnon pleaded guilty to lying to federal agents, escaping further prison time. He initially faced a murder conspiracy charge in James Bulger's death.
McKinnon served as a lookout while two other inmates fatally bludgeoned James Bulger. The attack occurred shortly after Bulger was transferred to a West Virginia prison.
Under his plea agreement, McKinnon could have faced up to five years in prison and a fine, but was let go without additional sentence due to time served.
At Bulger's slaying, McKinnon was serving a sentence for firearm theft. He was arrested again post-release for his involvement in Bulger's death.
