In the aftermath of devastating wildfires, schools in the Los Angeles area have begun to reopen. Six campuses in Pasadena Unified School District reopened on Thursday, providing essential services for students and staff who were impacted by the fires. Approximately two-thirds of the district's students and about half its staff lived in evacuation zones. Amidst the challenges faced by families, parents expressed gratitude for the return to school, which offers their children a sense of safety and normalcy during turbulent times.
Maricela Brambila, principal of Willard Elementary School, shared the challenges of reopening as multiple students and staff members had lost their homes during the fire.
Gabriela De La Torre emphasized the importance of school for her children, stating, 'It gives us at least something where my kids feel safe, she said.'
