Maggie Goodlander, a former Justice Department official, won about 62 percent of the vote in the Democratic primary for New Hampshire's Second Congressional District, defeating Colin Van Ostern.
Goodlander, who struggled to access reproductive healthcare after a tragic personal loss, speaks openly about her experiences which motivated her to seek public office.
The primary race became contentious when Van Ostern alleged that Goodlander exaggerated her ties to New Hampshire and questioned her support for abortion rights.
Despite criticism from Kuster, Goodlander holds an advantage in the Democratic-leaning district as she heads into the general election.
