"The AEA condemns Mr. Summers' conduct, as reflected in publicly reported communications, as fundamentally inconsistent with its standards of professional integrity and with the trust placed in mentors within the economics profession,"
"im a pretty good wing man , no?"
"Am I thanking her or being sorry re my being married. I think the former,"
Larry Summers resigned from the American Economic Association and was banned for life from attending, speaking at, or otherwise participating in its events after emails showed a friendly relationship with Jeffrey Epstein following Epstein's guilty plea for soliciting prostitution from a minor. The AEA condemned Summers' conduct as inconsistent with professional integrity and the trust placed in mentors. The released emails show Epstein offering advice on pursuing a romantic relationship and Summers discussing texting a woman he viewed as an economic mentee. Summers' wife emailed Epstein thanking him for arranging financial support for a poetry project. Summers went on leave from Harvard and other organizations severed ties.
