Kenyan runners win men's and women's races in New York City Marathon

Benson Kipruto and Hellen Obiri, both from Kenya, won the TCS New York City Marathon. Kipruto narrowly beat countryman Alexander Mutiso by 0.03 seconds in the men's race, both timed at 2:08:09, while Albert Korir finished third in 2:08:57. Obiri won the women's race in 2:19:51, with Sharon Lokedi and Sheila Chepkirui placing second and third. Kipruto's victory was his first NYC win and follows his 2024 Olympic bronze and multiple major marathon wins. Obiri secured her second NYC title after winning in 2023. The event drew over 55,000 runners, featured charity fundraising, and included elite and celebrity participants.
