Israel's Genocide Has Reportedly Killed More Journalists Than WWI and WWII Combined
Briefly

A new report from Brown University’s Costs of War project reveals that the ongoing Gaza conflict has seen at least 232 journalists killed, surpassing all previous U.S.-involved wars combined. This ongoing violence is marked as the "worst ever conflict" for journalists, with a staggering 37 being killed in just the first month of escalated hostilities. The report highlights that nearly 380 journalists have also been injured, predominantly affecting Palestinians. This grim statistic positions the Gaza genocide as the deadliest context for reporters since the Civil War, according to journalist Nick Turse.
As of late March, at least 232 journalists have been killed in the Gaza genocide, with the vast majority being Palestinians.
This is the highest journalist death toll of any U.S. war since the Civil War, topping the combined toll of journalist casualties in numerous conflicts.
In the first month of Israel's genocide alone, at least 37 journalists were killed, marking the deadliest month on record for journalists worldwide.
The report tallies the journalist death toll based on accounting by Al Jazeera and the Committee to Protect Journalists.
