Tensions between Iran and Israel have dramatically escalated with Iran's launch of 27 missiles targeting key Israeli sites, including Ben Gurion airport. Sirens rang out across Israel, leading millions to seek shelter. Reports indicated at least 20 injuries and severe damage in areas like Tel Aviv and Haifa. This military engagement marks a notable shift, with two missile volleys fired in rapid succession, highlighting increasing conflict dynamics. In retaliation, Israel struck Iranian military targets, maintaining a cycle of violence that threatens greater instability in the region.
Air raid sirens were sounded across most of Israel, sending millions of people to safe rooms and bomb shelters as explosions and missile interceptions were seen above the commercial hub of Tel Aviv.
This is certainly the first time that we have seen two volleys coming in such close succession. Usually, there are hours between each volley of missiles.
The targeted areas spanned the occupied Golan Heights in Syria to the Upper Galilee to northern and central Israel, affecting 10 separate sites either directly by missiles or by large shrapnel.
The Israeli military earlier said its strikes destroyed Iranian missile launchers and targeted soldiers, indicating ongoing military engagement between the two nations.
