Homeland Security extends temporary protected status for Haitians

The Biden administration will dramatically expand the number of Haitians eligible for temporary protection from deportation, including granting an 18-month extension and allowing newer arrivals to apply as well.
More than half a million Haitians, including those without legal status, will be shielded from deportation through Feb. 3, 2026, as part of the Biden administration's use of executive powers to aid immigrants.
