"A Hawaii visitor has died from injuries due to an assault earlier this month in Waikiki. The attack took place just after midnight on Nov. 8 on a side street between the heavily touristed Kalakaua and Kuhio avenues, in front of a hostel. According to the Honolulu Police Department, a 43-year-old man, unprovoked, assaulted a 50-year-old male visitor. "The victim sustained severe head injuries and was treated and transported to the hospital by EMS," the police said."
"The suspect has since been arrested. A few days later, on Nov. 12, the visitor died, and the police have charged the suspect with murder in the second degree. The identity of the victim has not yet been released. Despite what happened, some community members and tourism leaders still consider Waikiki to be safe. "I think it's pretty safe, really. I know somebody just got attacked lately, but that happens everywhere, in every state, so you just have to be careful and watch your surroundings,""
