BNSF Railway reported that a train derailed near Boulder Creek, resulting in injuries to two crew members and damage to a rail bridge, while also causing power outages for local customers.
The train derailed at approximately 11:13 p.m. on Thursday, with authorities confirming that a small amount of fuel spilled but did not reach Boulder Creek.
Injured crew members were treated and released from the hospital, and while cleanup efforts were underway, there was confirmed to be no public threat.
Police indicated that a rail bridge was destroyed and that around 200 customers experienced power outages, although it was unclear if all outages were a result of the derailment.
