"Littleton is one of many United States citizens attempting to leave the Middle East per guidance from the U.S. State Department. The department posted on social media site X, instructing U.S. citizens to leave more than a dozen countries because of safety risks and to shelter in place until they are able to do so."
"Littleton played at USC in 2022-2023 as a graduate student, transferring after winning a national championship at South Carolina a year earlier. As a San Diego Bishop high school senior in 2016-2017, she led the nation in scoring and became the first high school player in state history to score more than 4,000 points in a career."
"Sirens blare in the background as she anxiously tries to locate a bomb shelter. Then bombs can be heard, although Littleton can't bring herself to say the word, instead spelling it out: 'I definitely hear three or four B-O-M-B noises,' she says in video."
Destiny Littleton, a former USC women's basketball player currently playing professionally for Hapoel Jerusalem, has been documenting the Iranian airstrikes on Israel through social media videos. The San Diego native, who previously won a national championship at South Carolina before playing at USC, moved to Israel in November to play for one of the country's top professional teams. Following U.S. and Israeli military action that killed Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran retaliated with airstrikes, prompting the U.S. State Department to advise American citizens to leave the region and shelter in place. With airspace closed and flights canceled, Littleton remains sheltered with her teammates, documenting sirens, explosions, and her search for bomb shelters through increasingly urgent social media posts.
