Former Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez posts bond after being stabbed, arrested in Indianapolis
"Court documents say that at one point, according to surveillance video reviewed by officers, Sanchez is seen "grabbing and throwing" the man toward the wall of the Westin hotel. The documents say the man was defending himself after Sanchez threw him to the ground. The man pepper sprayed Sanchez in the face, according to the affidavit, and told officers that the spray "appeared to have an effect on Sanchez for a moment," but that Sanchez "wiped his face and again advanced" towards him."
"The 38-year-old Fox Sports commentator posted a bond of $300, according to online court records. He is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday morning. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said in a statement that Sanchez's arrest came after further investigation and consultation with the prosecutor's office. "Sanchez was arrested at the hospital for battery with injury, unlawful entry of a motor vehicle and public intoxication, all which are misdemeanors," police said in the statement."
Mark Sanchez, 38, posted a $300 bond and is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday on misdemeanor charges of battery with injury, unlawful vehicle entry and public intoxication. A probable cause affidavit describes an alley argument near The Westin Indianapolis and the Indianapolis Marriott Downtown in which a man who works for a commercial cooking oil recycling company was backed into a loading dock. Surveillance video allegedly shows Sanchez grabbing and throwing the man, who pepper sprayed Sanchez and then, fearing for his life, pulled a knife and struck Sanchez multiple times. The man suffered a cheek cut, was treated and released. Sanchez was hospitalized after being stabbed and was in Indianapolis as part of a broadcasting crew for a Raiders game.
