A former Amazon employee, Asraf Mohamed, is accused of stealing nearly 2,000 pairs of footwear from a program designed to provide free safety boots to new employees. Mohamed allegedly created 1,838 fraudulent accounts with Zappos.com using the personal information of fellow workers. The footwear orders totaling $224,000 were delivered to his home and his brother's residence. Mohamed, who was terminated in September 2023 after working at Amazon since July 2020, faces serious criminal charges including grand larceny.

Mohamed allegedly created 1,838 unique accounts with Zappos.com, using the information of new workers through an Amazon program called Zappos at Work.
