"We are in the process of gathering more information and will not have any further comment on an open legal matter at this time." WPLG-TV in Miami reported that Doral Police Chief Edwin Lopez confirmed the dispute was between Pearce and Jackson, a forward for the Los Angeles Sparks."
James Pearce Jr. was arrested near Miami after fleeing officers and crashing his car following a reported domestic dispute with WNBA player Rickea Jackson. Doral police summoned investigators and Pearce was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. According to the jail website, Pearce posted bond of $20,500. He faces felony counts including two counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, aggravated stalking and fleeing or eluding police, and was given a pre-trial stay-away order from Jackson. The Falcons acknowledged the incident and said they are gathering information while declining further comment on the open legal matter. Pearce led the Falcons with 10 1/2 sacks as a rookie and was a first-round pick.
