Sgt. Korbein Schultz, a 25-year-old former U.S. Army intelligence analyst, was sentenced to seven years in prison after selling classified military information to a foreign national connected to the Chinese government. Schultz transmitted over 92 sensitive documents, such as technical manuals for ballistic missile systems and information on military tactics, for $42,000. His actions threatened national security and undermined the trust placed in military personnel. Aiding in the process was his assignment to a battalion that supported NATO operations; he was arrested in March 2024.
"This soldier's actions put Army personnel at risk, placing individual gain above personal honor," said Brig. Gen. Rhett R. Cox, highlighting the breach of trust.
The analyst, Sgt. Korbein Schultz, 25, received $42,000 in exchange for at least 92 sensitive documents related to U.S. military operations and tactics.
