Chinese state media revel in demise of Voice of America, Radio Free Asia
Briefly

The recent shutdown of US-funded news outlets, Voice of America (VOA) and Radio Free Asia (RFA), signifies the end of over 80 years of uncensored news broadcasts in China. This move, resulting from budget cuts by President Trump’s administration, has been welcomed by Chinese state media and commentators. They consider these outlets as propaganda instruments serving US interests, particularly in opposing China. Despite their historical role in providing uncensored news, the closing reflects a reduction in foreign news influence and the Chinese government's ongoing efforts to control information.
The so-called beacon of freedom, VOA, has now been discarded by its own government like a dirty rag, the Global Times editorial declared.
These groups issue news in 62 languages to influence the minds of 350 million people to take a pro-American slant and poison people's minds against Chinese, Russians, Iranians, and other people Washington sees as rivals or adversaries.
VOA and RFA have been a thorn in the side of the Chinese Communist Party for decades, broadcasting news and commentary that challenged Beijing's stance.
Mao Ning described VOA as a lie factory that stirs up conflict with a notorious track record in their China coverage.
