Emergency officials in Hamilton County reported that residents started to notice a dangerous odor at approximately 1 p.m. on Tuesday, linked to a leaking train car.
Marcus Greer from Hooven described the distressing experience, stating he felt a burning sensation in his throat and eyes due to the chemical leak.
The hazardous materials team confirmed that the chemical styrene, used in making plastics and fiberglass, was leaking and posed significant safety risks to nearby residents.
Residents were initially instructed to remain indoors and shut their windows and doors as emergency measures were taken to address the situation and ensure public safety.
