"The New York Police Department revealed that a "suicidal note" was left in the primary bedroom of the Food Network star's Brooklyn, N.Y., home, dated June 17, 2025 - the day she died - according to a police report first obtained by People Magazine, and later reported by other outlets. Law enforcement officials shared that the investigator on the case also discovered "suicidal" entries in a journal on the bed in the same room."
"The NYPD confirmed that Burrell's husband, Stuart Claxton, found her on the bathroom floor, "with a bunch of over-the-counter pills on the floor." Claxton reportedly told police that he attempted to wake her up by "shaking her and slapping her face," but she was unresponsive. He also told the NYPD that Burrell had "never attempted suicide in the past." The chef's death was ruled a suicide in July 2025. She was 55."
