Charlie Kirk, cofounder of Turning Point USA, was shot Wednesday afternoon at Utah Valley University while holding an event. UVU immediately went into lockdown and UVU police confirmed a shooting involving a visiting speaker. Police reported that a suspect is in custody, while a UVU spokesperson said the attacker had not been apprehended. The FBI dispatched agents and issued statements of support for the response and investigation. Elected officials posted prayers and reactions. Videos of the shooting appeared on social media. TP USA and UVU had not immediately provided further public comments.
