As strong winds spread the Pacific Palisades fire, residents, including celebrities like James Woods and Steve Guttenberg, were forced to evacuate quickly due to safety concerns.
There are several elementary schools in our neighborhood and there was an enormous community effort to evacuate the children safely. Videos showed smoke and flames behind their homes.
Mr. Guttenberg urged fleeing residents to leave their car keys in vehicles to allow firefighters access, stressing the urgency of helping families and pets who couldn't evacuate.
We really need people to move their cars, Mr. Guttenberg said, as he witnessed friends struggling to escape due to traffic on Palisades Drive.
