The 22-year-old reached the final of his last eight tournaments over five months, winning six titles including the French Open and US Open. Many earlier victories involved five-set battles and dramatic comebacks, including saving triple match point to beat Sinner in Paris. The New York run was far more efficient: Alcaraz dropped only one set in seven matches and was broken just three times. The win returns him to world No 1 for the first time in two years.
