Car rams into Chabad headquarters in New York City, damaging doors
""This is deeply alarming, especially given the deep meaning and the history of the institution to so many in New York and around the world,""
""It slipped""
""This could have been much worse and I'm grateful that no one was hurt,""
""My office is working closely with the NYPD to ensure justice is done and the community is safe.""
A man was arrested after repeatedly crashing his car into the Chabad Lubavitch world headquarters in Brooklyn while people were gathered for prayer. No one was injured after the driver struck a basement-level door, reversed, and struck it several more times. Video shows a car with New Jersey plates moving forward and backward on an icy driveway. The driver, wearing shorts, told bystanders "It slipped" and referenced trying to park. Some doors were damaged. City officials called the crash intentional and deeply alarming, and prosecutors are working with NYPD on a possible hate crime investigation.
