"Police in Providence said early on Sunday that they had arrested a "person of interest" in connection with the shooting. At a news conference on Sunday morning, Providence Mayor Brett Smiley confirmed a "person of interest" had been detained. "I want to offer my profound thanks to all the hardworking men and women in law enforcement who worked through the night to be able to get us to this point," Smiley told reporters."
"Police Colonel Oscar Perez, who was also speaking at the press conference, said authorities were "not at this point" searching for anyone else in connection with the attack. The university has also been advised that the "shelter in place" order for the entire campus has been lifted."
Two students were killed and nine others were wounded in a shooting at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. The shooting occurred in an engineering and physics classroom during a final exam review session. Police said a 'person of interest' was arrested early Sunday morning and detained at a news conference. Providence Mayor Brett Smiley thanked law enforcement for their overnight work. Police Colonel Oscar Perez said authorities were not searching for additional suspects at this point. The university lifted a campus-wide shelter-in-place order and officials were told all victims were students.
