"I care deeply about America, American workers, and our future. My only goal has ever been to keep this country strong and safe,"
"I reported suspicious activity to law enforcement because that is what any American should do."
"I'm an American ... and I chose to come back home because I believe in the opportunity and freedom this nation offers,"
"No matter who you are or what you believe, threats and intimidation are unacceptable and should be condemned by everyone,"
Zac Segal, president of the Boston University College Republicans, said he called federal immigration officials prior to a Nov. 4 raid at Allston Car Wash that resulted in nine workers being detained. Segal said he reported suspicious activity to law enforcement to protect his community and uphold the rule of law and emphasized his commitment to American workers and national safety. All nine detained employees had work permits but allegedly were not allowed to retrieve them from their lockers. An attorney for the workers and the car wash criticized Segal's actions, and Segal reported receiving death threats after his post.
