AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am: Travis Kelce, along with elite pro field expected for 79th tournament
""We have already seen interest from people attending the Super Bowl that want to extend their vacation a few more days on the Monterey Peninsula,""
""We don't mind following the Super Bowl. We may have some fun people showing up to watch.""
""We had one model for 70 plus years," John said. "It was a dramatic change. It takes time to educate the crowd, galleries. But if you are a golf fanatic, you're in heaven with this lineup.""
Super Bowl LX in nearby Santa Clara and the addition of Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce have increased interest and ticket sales for the 79th AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, which begins Feb. 12. Seventy-nine of the top 80 PGA Tour golfers are committed. The tournament carries a $20 million purse and is one of eight signature PGA Tour events with only professionals competing on the weekend. Two years ago the event shifted from a celebrity-amateur model to an 80-player pro field, boosting charitable contributions and tour prominence. Defending champion Rory McIlroy leads the field; Justin Thomas is absent after back surgery.
