"Whitaker said those officers confronted a suspect in a car who then rammed the car into an occupied patrol car. At that point, another officer outside the car ended up inside it as he came to aid. Whitaker said the suspect continued to drive forward as the two struggled for control over each other and the car. The car eventually hit another patrol car and a nearby store."
An Antioch police officer shot a person while struggling with him inside a moving vehicle early Friday. Officers responded around 5:15 a.m. to the 4500 block of Lone Tree Way for a reported robbery in progress. The person who was shot is expected to survive; the officer suffered minor injuries. Police placed the shooting officer on paid administrative leave and did not identify the officers or suspect. A caller reported that a suspect was armed and had threatened someone. Officers confronted a suspect who rammed a patrol car, trapped an officer inside, and then drove recklessly before being shot, fleeing, and soon arrested.
