Three big-game hunting guides in Idaho are facing federal charges for illegally leading mountain lion hunts in national forests, and shipping carcasses out of state.
The trio, licensed guides employed by a legal outfitter, conducted unlicensed hunts starting in December 2021, resulting in the deaths of 12 mountain lions.
They are accused of violating state and federal hunting regulations, including failing to report kills and using false business information in mortality reports.
The charges include conspiracy and violating the Lacey Act, with the guides allegedly shipping mountain lion carcasses to Texas without proper documentation.
