"The violent death of G'Kiyah Lewis is a societal tragedy,"
"I'm grateful for the great investigative effort that brought someone forward to answer for this terrible crime and I urge the second suspect to turn himself in before he or anyone else gets hurt. I extend my deepest sympathies to G'Kiyah's family and friends and our office will provide all the help and support they need as this case moves forward."
G'Kiyah Lewis, an 18-year-old Malden High School senior, was shot on Oct. 11 when gunmen opened fire on a group on a porch on Hiawatha Road. Lewis was struck in the head and torso and died from her injuries on Nov. 7. Two other people were wounded and survived. Kwessi Silcott, 20, of Mattapan, was arraigned on first-degree murder after turning himself in following a warrant. Dkhari Wornum-Brown, 22, of Dorchester, was arrested and arraigned on first-degree murder and carrying an unlicensed firearm; prosecutors say he drove the scooter the shooter used to flee. The DA called the death a societal tragedy, urged the remaining suspect to surrender, and offered support to the victim's family. Authorities ask anyone with information to contact the Boston Police homicide unit or CrimeStoppers.
