Two adults and four children, ages 7 to 14, were traveling south on the Maine Turnpike in an SUV early Wednesday when their U-Haul trailer began to detach and they pulled onto the right shoulder in New Gloucester. The woman died at the scene; the man later died at a hospital. All four children and the Audi driver suffered minor injuries and were treated and released. No charges have been filed; the crash remains under investigation. All occupants were from Lewiston.
