11 injured after AC Transit bus crashes into Oakland auto repair shop
"An AC Transit bus careened into an East Oakland auto repair shop on Tuesday, leaving at least nine people hospitalized with minor injuries. The crash happened around 1:15 p.m. as the bus was heading toward downtown Oakland on Foothill Boulevard near 68th Avenue, according to AC Transit spokesman Robert Lyles. A white SUV crossed in front of the bus at the intersection, causing the two vehicles to collide before the bus jumped a curb and slammed into All Bout Cars Auto Body & Repair, he said."
"All nine people inside the bus were taken to nearby hospitals with minor injuries, Lyles said. The driver of the bus had to be rescued through one of the buses' windows from by Oakland firefighters, he said. The two people inside the SUV also suffered minor injuries, Lyles added. It was not immediately clear whether the auto shop was open Tuesday, nor whether anyone was inside when the crash happened."
