Several Republicans on Capitol Hill are ready to relinquish their power over federal spending by supporting a bill to repeal the Impoundment Control Act, allowing the president greater spending authority.
Rep. Tim Burchett of Tennessee expressed his frustration with Congress's inability to address spending, stating, "I think the spending is just out of control, and I think Congress is gutless."
Rep. Eric Burlison of Missouri stated, "If the power is reducing expenditures, then I'm all for it; something has to be done to address the national debt."
Rep. Ralph Norman of South Carolina noted, "At this point, I'm willing to take that risk. Anything can be abused. I can drink too much water, and suffer consequences."
