Mr Trump was giving a speech in Butler, Pennsylvania when shots rang out, resulting in him being injured and rushed away as Secret Service agents attended to him.
The gunman, identified as Thomas Matthew Crooks, fired shots from a rooftop and was subsequently shot by police; he was a 20-year-old registered Republican.
