A gubernatorial debate set for Tuesday has been canceled after USC and KABC could not agree on expanding the number of candidates. The debate was to feature six candidates chosen based on widely accepted criteria of polling and fundraising. Scholars support these criteria as indicators of candidate viability. USC acknowledged that concerns over selection criteria distracted from important voter issues and stated they would seek other ways to inform voters about candidates and issues.
