In a recent interview, President Donald Trump stated he would not seek a third term in 2028 despite previous hints to the contrary. Emphasizing his commitment to serving effectively during his current term, Trump expressed a desire to hand over leadership to a capable Republican, such as Vice President JD Vance or Secretary of State Marco Rubio. While he previously entertained ideas of a third term, as seen in his comments about methods to achieve it, he reassured that his main focus is on the next four years and on his political movement's continuity beyond his presidency.
But this is not something I'm looking to do. I'm looking to have four great years and turn it over to somebody, ideally a great Republican, to carry it forward.
I just want to serve, do a great job. I'll be an eight-year president. I'll be a two-term president.
