Former President Donald Trump's recent social media post depicted him as Pope Don John The First, following the death of Pope Francis. This humorously provocative move sparked significant backlash, even from his supporters, who questioned the appropriateness of the image. Trump, who has previously joked about his papal aspirations, posted the image on Truth Social without a caption, seemingly aiming for a comedic effect. Reactions ranged from disbelief to disappointment, with many highlighting the divisive nature of such a mockery amidst Trump's recent spiritual engagements, including a National Prayer Service at the White House.
I'm an evangelical Christian, never been catholic but I really wish you hadn't shared this (your interview suggestion at being Pope was a bit cringy in itself) but this is borderline sacrilegious no matter what your beliefs. Why must we fuel the fake news fires?
With all due respect I don't find this funny at all. What's the point? Totally unnecessary. And I'm speaking as a maga supporter, a true follower and of course and more important, as a Catholic.
Every day is more absurd than the last, and if there was a Pope of White Evangelicals, this would probably become real.
This post drew stunned reactions across social media, even from some of his own Truth Social followers who found it in poor taste.
