Nine ministers from Ireland, including the Taoiseach and Tánaiste, are set to visit the US to engage with newly elected President Donald Trump. The initiative, led by Tánaiste Simon Harris, aims to enhance economic relations and foster cultural connections with the Irish Diaspora. While the ministers will be dispatched to various global destinations, the focus this year will significantly be on the US, reflecting its importance in global trading and community solidarity, especially during the St Patrick's Day festivities.
I think it's important, given our global trading position, and also to meet with the Irish diaspora, Irish communities across the globe who celebrate St Patrick's Day and that's important.
There'll be an economic dimension to my visits there, as well as cultural and obviously meeting with the Irish communities.
