Reid Hoffman stated on 'The Diary of a CEO' podcast, "I think that there's a greater than 50% chance that there will be repercussions from a misdirection and corruption of the institutions of state to respond to my having tried to help Harris get elected." He acknowledged the potential for retaliation from Trump, emphasizing the undemocratic nature of such actions.
Hoffman elaborated on the possibility of retaliation, saying, "It could get much worse, but I don't really want to speculate on it because I don't want to give anybody any ideas." He outlined mild forms of retaliation he expects, such as IRS audits, highlighting the concern over political weaponization of government institutions.
Speaking to fellow billionaires during the campaign, Hoffman noted they applauded his political activism, stating, "Nearly 90 top business executives - including myself - signed a letter endorsing Harris’ candidacy, which emphasized her plan to support small businesses and reliability of democracy and the economy."
Despite fears of retaliation, Hoffman firmly stated, "I have no plans to leave the United States,” demonstrating a commitment to remain engaged in the American political landscape.
