In a worst-case scenario, what if a natural disaster, economic collapse, catastrophic war, or intense social unrest caused some or all of the states to secede from the Union?
Over 150 years have now lapsed since the end of the Civil War. We look back on this conflict and remember the value of national unity, highly aware of what disagreements can cost us.
Since this time, the United States has been involved in numerous wars, some much bigger and far reaching than our own domestic interests, indicating a history of tackling external pressures together.
