Halfway through the first Trump administration, Carnival Corporation hired lobbyist Pam Bondi to help resolve issues regarding potential lawsuits for its operations in Cuba.
Carnival was concerned it could face up to $600 million in damages for docking at Havana, previously seized by the Cuban government, hence sought Trump's assistance.
Though President Trump ultimately did not side with Carnival, Bondi's networking with Trump highlighted her effectiveness in building relations between corporations and his administration.
Bondi's efforts reflected her ongoing strategy of maintaining open communication with corporations, a practice she initiated during her tenure as Florida's attorney general.
